[Purposes] This paper aims to comprehensively analyze the publishing parameters and bibliometric indicator characteristics of high-quality academic journals and provide references for the publication of academic journals.
[Methods] Taking 21 CSSCI journals of comprehensive social sciences as the research objects , this paper made a comparative analysis of publication parameters and bibliometric indicators, including journal publishing frequency, number of published papers, total pages, paper length, number of fund-supported papers, citation frequency, impact factors, and standardization influence index, VOSviewer and CiteSpace were used to analyze the emergence of themes and keywords to explore the research hotspots and frontiers.
[Findings] Among 21 CSSCI journals of comprehensive social sciences, there were 9 monthly journals and 12 bimonthly journals. The monthly journals had greater standardization influence index than the bimonthly journals. In 2020, the average number of papers published ir8 excellent journals was 200, with a median of 184. The optimal paper length was 8 pages. Highly cited papers were mainly related to environmental science, safety science, politics, law, economy, and other disciplines, and hot topics mainly included targeted poverty alleviation rural revitalization artificial intelligence social governance, and big data.
[Conclusions] For the comprehensive social science journals, the optimal publishing cycle is monthly publication. The number of published papers, total pages, and paper length should be kept in a reasonable range , and research topic of papers should be closely related to the national policy orientation.
